Catch Up: Ever wonder what a Jacaranda in blossom looks like? We do.

The creation of ‘Pain’, ‘Out of Time’ and many other pieces at Jacaranda House!

Have you been checking out our Instagram page lately?

All those designs you see so far came from our most recent Jacaranda House workshop! There was a mix of huge talented artists all itching to get their designs out into the world!

Over the course of 5 weeks at Jacaranda house we met some talented workshop participants who helped us write Uplift’s next chapter! They let us join them for dinner every week where fun banter was shared and we got the opportunity to get closer at a dinner table. If you're reading this Chris, my favourite dinner was the Pesto pasta! Please share your recipe!

Ideating was chaotic. Screenprinting was peacefully... chaotic.

There were so many designs that were longing to be made into shirts, so many drafts on images, sketches, quotes and paragraphs waiting to be made real.

So when it came to screen-printing, as usual, there was a flurry of colours. Screen-printing is without a doubt, the most fun in the program. You get to see your ideas come to life. You get to test and experiment ways to bring out more flavour in the shirt.

You get to see how a story is told. Firsthand.

And that experience is irreplaceable.

Below are some of the final designs that came from these amazing young artists!

Some highlights from the weeks:

Week 1 - Groovy dinners? As it turns out, Jacaranda House also has a dance studio next door, so whenever we wanted to use the bathroom, we heard pumping tunes and some enthusiastic dancers.

Week 2 - Mystery portraits! We tried to draw the person next to you with one eye closed, or without lifting your pencil. It was chaotic but fun. I still have my partners picture up on my wall!

Week 3 - Story time! Everyone had been working tirelessly on their designs they were eager to share them around! Kez made a beautiful sunset drawing that had us all in awe.

Week 4 - Did we mention we had a chef on board? Mel made this amazing pavlova dessert!

Week 5 - Love at its finest. It was raining hard outside so we conducted the rest of our workshop inside where the interior seemed to suggest it was a daycare centre during the day. Alex cradled a baby throughout this whole process.

We’d like to give huge thanks to our host Chris and the spirited youth for providing us with their venue for running our workshop!

If you're interested in running a workshop with us, please contact us on our Facebook page! We're always looking for the opportunity to help out whenever possible!
