Catch up: Collaboration showcase! Project Youth x Uplift’s first exhibition!

Lights, canvases… action! We take you through our first ever exhibition at Project Youth!

A stage. An opportunity. An unforgettable night.

Project Youth gave us everything we needed to bring all these together at our first ever showcase exhibition. It means the world to us to see our friends at Project Youth bring to life a spectacle of bright lights, awe-filled atmosphere and passionate designs!

But you can’t always stand in the spotlight. A lot of preparation work went into making the exhibition look good, and work great. Countless nights were spent awake, staring at a ceiling, wondering how we can best showcase each individual talent.

3 weeks. 2 marketers. 1 isolated location.

The time we had to pull everything together. Our precious promoters with a tight schedule to attract an audience. A local suburban shelter, far away from the hustling and bustling of city life.

It wasn’t easy. We needed to source equipment and create promotional material. We hit a few walls in our plans, and didn’t have enough time to reach out fully to our community. Rather we focused on our young designers. To make their designs stand out, and show them how far they’ve come to create a tangible design.

The result? Well, see for yourself!

when people wear my shirt, I want people to be reminded that everything will turn out ok. no matter what circumstances they are experiencing there will always be a better day
— 'Sunshine' by Emma

At the end of the day, we love doing what we do. We know we’ll hit bumps along the way, but like Emma says, everything will turn out ok. Just like these young designers, we’re persistent, stubborn even, to get our message across. The result working up to here might be hard to earn, but it’s well worth it.

And as I always say, for the amount of work you put in, you sure as hell will get an equal result out.

Exhibition 2

We sold over 70% of our existing stock, giving us the amazing opportunity to give back to the community and Project Youth. We had an overwhelming attendance of 40 bright-eyed individuals eager to widen their horizons. Of course, we were amongst the keen crowd ourselves, if you can spot us!

But most importantly, the goals we initially set out to achieve had been done.

Our stage was set beautifully.
There was an opportunity for these young designers to flourish.
We made an unforgettable step in our journey as Uplift, a group of individuals that help connect people to stories.
