Our current theme and what it means to us!

Concepts. Themes. Ideas.

Rebirth

What does this mean to you?

The theme that our team has chosen for the month is rebirth. Our meaning of rebirth differs from member to member.

We’re also integrating this theme into our current art initiatives! For us, this theme aligns with the ongoing pandemic situation and how Rebirth is a concept we can manifest and embody.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

Over the last couple of years, the project has had ups and downs and moments of uncertainty. However, I think that over the last few months we have consolidated our direction and what we are working towards. To me rebirth means a moment of greater clarity – like a eureka moment when you finally figure out what you want to eat after 30 minutes of trawling through the menu.

Rebirth is really a fantastical, religious and spiritual concept in which we are giving human characteristics to. I see ‘Rebirth’ not as a restart of uplift, we still acknowledge the roots and the land that built the foundations of our project. Instead it alludes to the focus on bettering ourselves and the ability to re-energise what we do. To reinvent uplift through renewed passion. And to better transcend that energy of renewal into our main priority, our youths.

My understanding of Rebirth takes in the form of the growth and evolution of Uplift. It is the process of renewal, a breakthrough, continuing to show to the world what Uplift is about.

Paula

Rebirth means a chance to reflect on our past successes and failures, then use what we have learnt to build the best version of Uplift that we can. It is a chance to refocus our purpose and strive to achieve that goal.

Anthony

To me, Rebirth is a process in which one overcomes whatever challenges and rut they are currently facing, and comes out with an enlightened sense of discovery and direction. To Uplift, I feel that this is exactly the path we’ve threaded through and we have come out with a clear goal and purpose in mind, and this process is vitalising. But also on a broader sense, I feel that Rebirth doesn’t have a defined meaning, it is rather fluid and can manifest itself in whatever shape and form it sees fit, shaped by the tides of cultural and social influences. This means that anyone associated with the vision of Uplift has the ability to influence its meaning and creative direction.

On that note, I am very excited to see how other members of our community perceive this idea of “Rebirth” through our community call-out challenge, hosted on our Instagram. This art call-out is open to everyone and we wanted to give each individual a voice to show their support during these tough periods.

For me, Rebirth is a chance for new opportunities. To restart and take a pathway unique to yourself. I think it’s amazing to be able to see growth through renewed opportunities, even if you’re moving backwards. To be continuously learning and improving yourself is an amazing self-rewarding process that I believe everyone should experience.

Words are not enough to describe thoughts sometimes. Instead we choose to draw what we feel and express ourselves on a canvas. That’s why we’re currently looking for inspiring submission pieces to post on our Instagram! If you have an idea about rebirth we would love to see it and repost it!
